Some background info...
This website is created to assist Art, Sam and Denny Twigg advance their already outstanding careers as soccer players.
Born in Thailand, they hold dual citizenship, and have played Soccer for leading teams in Asia, USA and New Zealand. Their love of the sport started at age 5-6 in Bangkok where they spent 2-3 days a week training and much of their school holidays in elite football camps for one of Bangkok’s most successful soccer academies – Bangkok Soccer Schools. They’re currently students at Auckland Grammar School, and play club soccer for Ellerslie AFC. As well as outdoor soccer, they're advocates of the small-sided game, excelling in 3v3 and Futsal. In 2013 Art (16) and Sam (15) were members of the AFF Premier Futsal team who were crowned National Champions. 2015 Update:
2015 promises to be a special year for the three boys, as the age-groups begin to blur. Here’s some predictions about what we might see this year: Auckland Grammar 1st XI: Having won the Auckland U15 knock-out cup two years running, Grammar has a strong core of players vying for spots in the 2015 1st XI. With the majority of last years team returning, they are confident of doing significantly better than last year's 4th place in the Premier League.
Auckland Grammar Senior Futsal: Having placed third and fifth in the 2013 and 2014 championships, AGS will field it's strongest and best prepared team in 2015. Core to this team will be the three Twigg boys. AGS will be a strong contender for the National Title in 2015. U19s: Art's national U17 champion team broke up this year, and as a result Art chose to play for TKU where most of his school team was playing. Sam has played (and captained) the Ellerslie U19 team, but plays mostly with Denny in the U17 team.
Ellerslie U17’s: As 2014 U15 Auckland champions, and regional finalists in the MUPC Cup (for U15’s), this team is likely to step up a grade and compete in the U17 championship. Sam is likely to be playing in this division, and Denny is likely to be playing up a grade. Regional Youth Futsal: All three were selected to play for AFF in 2013 and 2014, but we declined (due to costs of participation). In 2015 we switched allegiance to NFF, where the boys made up the core of the U19 team. Despite having one of the youngest teams in the tournament, with 4 players eligible to play U16, we made the Championship final. Premier National League Futsal: Art and Sam return as encumbents this year, and Denny will be looking to join the squad. Auckland boasts a young squad, and as 2013 champions, the desire to climb back onto the top spot is strong. Both Art and Sam are incumbent in the team, and Denny is hungry for a spot also. |
